About Us
This is a bit of info about who we are and why we started The Green Apple.
Well, I’m Mickey (short for Michelle) — hello! — and I decided, sometime early 2005, that I should turn my almost-lifelong interest of being a greenie (which started around age 11) into a small business, whereby I could present to people all the lovely alternative choices there are to live a greener, kinder, smilier lifestyle, but without any loss of style or looking like you might smell heavily of patchouli.
Up until then I had worked for 8 years as a freelance rock music photographer, so a business brain I did not have. Or any idea about working in retail. Or pretty much how to go about doing any of this. But I decided to do it anyway because how hard could it be right? Ha ha!!! Oh, how I smile at those innocent times.

So, there’s me and sometimes there’s Stu here and there’s always Coco, Finn, Butch, Zissou, Gracie, Bonnie & Rosy too. They are completely unproductive (apart from Stu... some of the time), but very valued team members as they keep me smiling all day, every day, which is quite priceless really. If they could do that and make the tea that would be great, but you can’t have everything can you.
I love dancing, reading, photography, daydreaming, thinking up unlikely inventions and cuddling my cats!
As for our personal eco-credentials; everything is recycled than can be recycled or composted where applicable, all packaging is re-used, all lighting is low energy and all cups of tea are made by boiling only the required amount of water! The Green Apple might be a business, but it was borne out of an existing lifestyle choice, so these and many other ways of saving energy are being implemented constantly.
We only buy from suppliers we absolutely trust, those that are committed to trading ethically and that are concerned about their impact on the environment.
