Recycled Banana Silk Large Drop Stitch Shawl for Summer Evenings

The designer Alona says this piece was beautiful to make and is equally as lovely to wear. It's perfect for spring evenings for dressing up or else wrapped around your neck during the day.

This was hand knitted by her using recycled banana silk.

The colours are rich velvet purples, with touches of oranges, yellow, teal blue, sea green and pink. It has a really opulent feel about it; very rich and heavy.

The colours may vary from shawl to shawl as each skein is spun differently.

This banana silk originates from Nepal where cooperatives buy sari remnants from sari factories. These are then shredded and hand spun to create beautiful silks with amazing shine and texture. No two yarns are the same. These yarns are fairly traded.

This measures 22" by 65".
